This summer, I will be making one painting a day for four months.
Some explanation: I am a student in the BFA Illustration program at the School of Visual Arts, and next year is my senior year. Since discovering oils as a freshman, I've been struggling to gain the technical ability to execute the illustrations that look so good in my head; now, as the grace period of college nears its end, I need to step up my efforts.
On the advice of Peter Fiore, and inspired by his blog, I will be spending the entire summer, from May 1st to August 31st, doing one small painting a day. If there happens to be a day I am unable to paint, I will do a drawing instead. I'll be posting my pieces as I go, if not quite one a day (since this is oil) then at least consistently, and always with a date attached.
Any critique, suggestions, or tips offered would be really really gratefully accepted. I'm here to learn, and I know from experience that I learn best when I have my elders, betters, and peers all looking over my shoulder and giving me input.
It's going to be an interesting few months, that's for sure.
